Could Realtor Income Depend On a New Demographic Group?

new home buyers

Young single professional women could be considered one of the most desirable real estate demographics groups according to an article from Market Watch. According to the source 10 percent of young adult single males are home buyers where 21 percent of young women have recently purchased a home.

This could come as a surprise to most because traditionally real estate investors and home owners for years were dominated by males and female home owners numbers largely consisted of widows and retired professionals. Some attribute the shift in to equality in employment opportunities and change in attitudes in young females. While there are plenty of reasons to debate upon and contributing factors to consider, the numbers remain – young females buy more homes.

Any successful realtor realizes the importance of targeted marketing and this new group of home buyers presents new opportunities to attract potential clients.

What does young professional woman wants? Well, she went to college and chances are that she had to work while attending it, she found a job in this type of job market and she works hard to keep it. She wants respect and recognition as well as security. If you are a realtor and a marketer this info should provide you with a good start on how to address this particular market segment.

Professional women have become more practical partially because now they have to earn their own living and pay their bills. Can you find a perfect house for a young female who is practical, ambitious and seeking some security? Can you be supportive, informative and most important show your respect? If yes, you’ve got yourself a new prospect who will be eager to introduce you to her friends as a presentable respectable figure. It’s the image thing.

Some people probably will consider my comments as somehow cynical but who can argue that most young women are more sensitive to the personal details than aged men? And who can argue with the fact that understanding of human nature and knowing what people want and what drives them is an important factor to realtor income?

New economy, new market demographics… new frontier; and if you are selling homes pay attention to all these changes. I am sure there are more to come.

Holding a Texas license means you pasesd the tests for Texas real estate law and practices. Now you gotta take that California test! Better bone up beforehand. Real estate law varies by state.
